Boston Celtics: How Jaylen Brown rose to stardom for the Cs
Jaylen Brown is no longer in the shadow of Jayson Tatum.
Brown has always overcome adversity–particularly losing his starting role in 2018-19–and after struggling in Year 3, he was still rewarded with a four-year, $115 million contract.
Many were outraged at this decision.
Now, looking back, this is a team-friendly deal. Brown is being considered for one of the all-star starting backcourt spots, and if this play keeps up…I don’t see how he would be left off an All-NBA team.
Brown has never been complacent, always striving to be more than what he is currently, which is all you can ask out of someone you foresee superstardom for.
With a contract like his, players may become conceited, thinking the money is a reward for being the player you were that season. But Brown thinks differently, in his own words:
"“I’m overly confident. I believe in myself 100 percent. I believe in my game, and I believe in my work ethic.”"
These are wise words from Jaylen, and he knows himself that this is far from his best form. As much as he has improved, there is still room to improve, which is quite astounding taking into account he’s averaging nearly 27 points per game on stellar efficiency.
But, now let’s look at what aspects of his game Brown has truly improved upon to finally be getting the recognition he deserves, and to no longer be in the shadow of fellow star, Jayson Tatum…
