Boston Celtics: 3 potential landing spots for Romeo Langford
Potential Boston Celtics Romeo Langford trade partner #2: Oklahoma City Thunder
Whatever the Oklahoma City Thunder are doing with their rebuild…it is working and then some. After trading away Russell Westbrook and Paul George were traded away in the summer of 2019, the Thunder were supposed to embark on a rebuild.
Then, in 2019-20, Chris Paul was able to keep them afloat in the Western Conference–so much so that OKC was able to nab a top 5 seed and almost make it out of the first round of the postseason.
It only made sense for the Thunder to flip Paul this past offseason, sending him to a Phoenix Suns team that appeared to be more ready to contend in 2021. Amazingly, with more than a quarter of the 2020-21 NBA season, only 2.5 games separate the two teams in the standings.
Oklahoma City is doing it with guys like Kenrich Williams and Theo Maledon picking up starter’s minutes. Langford could be the next to be sent to the land of the misfit toys and come out looking like a foundational piece for a future playoff fixture.
If OKC wants to move on from George Hill (assuming he returns from injury without any long-term questions) perhaps Boston could add the playoff-proven vet to a roster that could use an upgrade in the veteran reserve point guard department with Jeff Teague struggling.
Langford could be a nice get for the Thunder in that scenario.
