On Super Bowl Sunday, the Boston Celtics suffered a loss at the hand of the Phoenix Suns, losing by a final score of 100-91. Fresh off an exciting win against the Clippers, the Celtics dropped the ball, as they couldn’t get anything going on offense.

On the game, they shot a putrid 33-of-93 from the field (35.5%). Most of that inefficiency was from inside the arc, as Boston shot a respectable 17-of-44 from distance. This is the first game all year where the Celtics have lost while hitting more than 13 3-pointers.

In another game without Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart, the team’s overall offense struggled to hit open looks throughout the game. Jayson Tatum was guarded by stud-defender Mikal Bridges for the majority of the contest, and he certainly made it difficult on the young superstar.

Tatum had a modest game by his standards, finishing with 23 points on 8-of-22 shooting.

On the other hand, the Suns were firing on all cylinders, both making shots to start each half and down the stretch, cementing their win. They won both the first and third quarters by more than five points each while holding Boston to 19 in each.

On the game, the 13-9 Suns shot 40-of-82 from the floor (48.8%) and 8-of-29 from three (27.6%).
