2020-21 has been an unbelievable season so far for Boston Celtics fifth-year wing, Jaylen Brown.

Through 18 games played, the 24-year-old is boasting career-high averages of 27.1 points, 3.5 assists, 1.4 steals, and just over half a block per game on 53 percent shooting from the field and 44 percent shooting from deep.

Behind his excellence, he has helped guide the shamrocks to a fourth-seeded record of 10-8 while also making history along the way, becoming the only player to score 33 or more points in less than 20 minutes of action (during a January 24th bout against the Cleveland Cavaliers).

Coming into the league back in 2016, Brown was seen as a defensive-minded wing with high-upside on offense. Through the years, he has managed to work his way into becoming one of the best young two-way talents in the association, as he’s remained consistent on the less glamorous side of the ball while improving upon his scoring efficiency season after season.

Now, in the first year of his $106 million extension, the former Golden Bear finds himself ranking as one of the very best shooters in the NBA — to be exact, the fifth-best according to Bleacher Report’s metrics.

Placing ahead of arguably the greatest scorer of all time in Kevin Durant and just behind Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George, B/R gave Brown a “total shot value” rating of 43.5.

"…he’s presently finding nylon on 45.2 percent (42-of-93) of his above-the-break triples. Yowsa. That is definitively not normal. He drilled 34.4 percent of these same looks last season.Brown is partnering this long-range uptick with a mid-range explosion. He probably takes too many in-between twos, but he’s knocking them down at a 54.5 percent clip—third-best among everyone who has taken at least 40 such shots."

With the current struggles of star Kemba Walker coupled with very few supporting scorers outside of him and Jayson Tatum, the Boston Celtics will need Jaylen Brown to have his hot scoring touch continue as we churn along through this consensed 72 game season.
