Trevor Ariza

Currently buried on the depth chart in Oklahoma City, Trevor Ariza is in desperate need of a new home…unless he wants to sit out the 2020-21 season following his bubble opt-out.

If he does have designs of being a contributor on a contender, Boston can do far worse than acquiring a veteran who was an integral part of the James Harden-era Houston Rockets that dominated the NBA and came closest to dethroning the Kevin Durant-era Golden State Warriors.

Portland acquired him last season to propel them forward into the postseason last season as part of the starting lineup, but he’d have far fewer responsibilities in Beantown.

Robin Lopez

Robin Lopez was once a target for the Boston Celtics after their signing of Kemba Walker in the 2019 offseason. He instead went to Milwaukee to back up his brother Brook and has since moved onto the Nation’s Capital to play in a Wizards uniform.

With the Wizards going nowhere fast in the 2020-21 season, he could be a buyout market option if Washington can’t aggregate his $7 million cap figure into a valuable trade asset. The more likely scenario is the younger Lopez brother ending up on a contender, and Boston could be that contender.
