It had to scare fans around the league–including Boston Celtics fans–to see the news that the Brooklyn Nets are in pursuit of Kevin Love:

Should the Boston Celtics usurp the Nets to land Love?

Collin Sexton and Love seem to have a positive relationship, which would seemingly bode well for the 32-year-old’s future in the “Land” with Sexton ascending to franchise cornerstone status.

Then again, there have been issues in the past, as Dan Gilinsky of King James Gospel noted:

"…in a recent conversation The Athletic‘s Kelsey Russo had with former NBA executive John Hollinger recently (subscription required), Russo noted how Hollinger hit on how Love has shown he doesn’t like playing with Sexton at all, essentially, given Sexton’s limited playmaking track record."

Sexton has improved ten-fold, and their relationship seemingly has as well.

But here we are, back again, in 2021, with the same old Kevin Love trade rumors. Given that his name is now being mentioned in the same breath as the Nets, I believe a move will be made.

Nets superstar point guard Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love share a bond, not just as championship teammates on the 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers, but also as teammates of LeBron James that had to absorb the media scrutiny playing alongside the league’s most polarizing personality brought with it.

Never forget the duo got dominated by Kevin Durant’s Golden State Warriors in 2017. Now the trio can pair up in a new city, with a respected coach (and former peer) in Steve Nash, and a chance to actually play James in the NBA Finals and exact some revenge all of these years later.

Oh, and 3x reigning scoring champion James Harden is also in the lineup.

Brooklyn is on the verge of becoming a full-blown juggernaut if this move can happen. Slander their depth all you want should this deal go down, but there will be a line of veterans chomping at the bit to win a title–and not just any title, but the first in franchise history–in Kings County.

The Boston Celtics should aim to usurp their pursuit of Love and McGee…if they can find the right price.

Stay tuned, because exploring the right price is what the Houdini does best.
