Boston Celtics: 3 TPE targets to scout during tonight’s Bulls game
By Mark Nilon
Boston Celtics TPE target No. 2) Otto Porter Jr.
One of the biggest areas of concern for the Boston Celtics over the past two seasons has been offensive production off the pine.
Last year, the team found themselves ranked 29th in points per game (28.5), 28th in 3-point percentage (31.8), and 20th in offensive rating (53.6).
This year, while they have improved a bit in these areas — as we stated in the last slide in regard to 3-point percentage — the unit could still use for some extra weapons.
Otto Porter Jr. could be a sound weapon to consider stocking up their arsenal with.
Now in his eight-season in the association, the forward has become more of a second-unit provider and, to his credit, is taking the role well.
Through 13 games played, the 27-year-old is averaging 12.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game on 48 percent shooting from the field and 41 percent shooting from deep.
Yes, we’re aware of his bloated contract, but the C’s TPE would cover the entirety of it without it hampering their salary situation moving forward for he is a free agent come season’s end.
This is all indicative of whether or not Danny Ainge manages to find someone of more value that can be had for the TPE — such as the player listed in our next slide.
However, with what he can provide as a sparkplug off the pine it could prove to be incredibly beneficial for the Boston Celtics during their hopeful title run in 2021.
