Why the Boston Celtics do it

Aaron Nesmith looked impressive in the 17 minutes he was able to see the floor due to the lopsided nature of the C’s decimation of the Cavaliers at the TD Garden. He accumulated 11 points, six rebounds, and an assist.

Better yet, he shot 4/6 from the floor and 3/5 from the 3-point line. That efficiency will one day come in handy for Boston…but the 2021 postseason seems too soon to be reliant on a rookie from Vanderbilt.

Danuel House and Ben McLemore are playoff hardened (lol) and can make an immediate impact as the first wings off the bench for Brad Stevens.

With Semi Ojeleye coming into his own as a stretch-four, relying on Nesmith and Romeo Langford on the perimeter is a non-starter around these parts.

Why the Houston Rockets do it

House and McLemore seemed to better fit in Houston when James Harden was around. While their shooting could come in handy surrounding Victor Oladipo and John Wall, that backcourt could be broken up any day now.

Swapping them out and receiving two draft picks while also adding to their shallow big-man depth is a smart move for a franchise that could be out of the postseason picture before long.
