The Boston Celtics have been rather unimpressive since Kemba Walker returned to the lineup.

Losing all three games by 8+ points and two by double-digits, it’s not been a good run for the Cs since they returned their star point guard to the lineup.

It started off with a Sunday matinee seven days ago against the New York Knicks. In a horrific offensive effort, Boston managed to muster just 75 points against one of the Eastern Conference’s perennial bottom-feeders.

Granted, the Knicks do have a defensive-minded coach now in Tom Thibodeau, and the defense has improved to become the stingiest team in the league, ceding the fewest points to opponents out of all 30.

Then, the Boston Celtics lost two straight to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Philly looks like a legitimate contender this season, finally surrounding Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid with the proper tools (ie. shooting) to get over the hump in the east.

To combat those two stars, Boston needs to find a point guard capable of defending Simmons’ drives and post-ups, and a center capable of bodying up Embiid and slowing him down on the glass and on the block.

The Houdini thinks these teams can have an eye on Walker as an asset…and more importantly, have the necessary assets to scratch Boston’s itch for needing a counter to the Simmons-Embiid duo:

New York Knicks

The Knicks seem like a perfect landing spot for Walker given his Bronx roots, but more importantly, New York has pieces that can interest Danny Ainge and the Boston Celtics front office in a deal.

Elfrid Payton and Mitchell Robinson are the ideal targets on the roster, but even young guns like Frank Ntilikina and Kevin Knox can sprout in Beantown away from the franchise that bungled their development.

Either way, it seems like the Knicks are the team most likely to overpay for Walker based on their history as poor players in the trade game (Andrea Bargnani says ciao!)
