The Boston Celtics are off to a fine start to the 2020-21 season, as they hold one of the best records in the Eastern Conference, have both Jayson Tatum & Jaylen Brown lighting up the league, and, most recently, had All-Star Kemba Walker rejoin the rotation after rehabbing his lingering knee ailments since October.

That said, with the most recent blockbuster deal that sent superstar James Harden to their Atlantic Division rival in Brookly, Houdini co-Expert Andrew Hughes believes they should look to the trade market in an effort to bring in added firepower to match that of the Nets.

One of the biggest trades proposed in the article linked to above involved the Cs giving up Walker.

The Boston Celtics should only consider trading Kemba Walker for a few players

With this, it brought the question to mind: if Boston were to look into trading Kemba, who might they want to target in return?

Today, we present to you the only 3 realistic targets Danny Ainge and co. should pursue in any Kemba Walker trade:

Boston Celtics target No. 1) Rudy Gobert

First on the docket, we see the likes of All-Star center, Rudy Gobert.

After signing a $205 million deal this past offseason, one would expect that the relationship between the All-Star and franchise cornerstone Donovan Mitchell has been mended and, thus, he is there to stay.

However, crazier things have happened in this league and, should things go south once again, the Boston Celtics should strongly consider pursuing him.

A 2x Defensive Player of the Year and a perennial All-NBA talent, Gobert is having yet another impressive season in Utah, averaging 12.2 points, 13.6 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks a game on 60 percent shooting from the floor.

Still in search for an answer at the pivot, the 7-2 Stifle Tower would easily fill Boston’s void down low as well as give the team an actual option to combat that of the other dominant bigs in the East that they proved to struggle against in the 2020 postseason such as Joel Embiid and Bam Adebayo.

If he could be acquired for a package centered around Kemba Walker, of course Ainge should strongly consider it.
