When one looks at the history of the Boston Celtics, people tend to see a prominent level of success and consistency.
Tied with the Los Angeles Lakers for the most championships in NBA history, the word “winning” is deeply ingrained within the organization which, in turn, is a reason as to why so many players throughout the years have wanted to come to Boston and why so many of them stayed.
From Celtics lifers like Bill Russell, John Havlicek, and Larry Bird to long-tenured players like Bob Cousy and Paul Pierce, the collection of top-tier talents that have graced the parquet flooring found in Beantown rivals few other organizations.
There are a few current players that could have long tenures with the Boston Celtics
A storied franchise such as this is not one players like to bounce from too often. Simultaneously, the Celtics are a team that likes to have long-lasting relationships with their players.
Of the current crop of players found on the Cs roster, we at HH believe there to be 4 in specific that could see long careers in Boston:
Boston Celtics player No. 1) Jayson Tatum
We felt it was best to get the most obvious player out of the way with our first projected long-term member of the Boston Celtics.
Jayson Tatum came into his own last season as a 22-year-old, posting career numbers of 23.4 points, seven rebounds, three assists, 1.4 steals, and just shy of a block per game on 45 percent shooting from the floor and 40 percent shooting from deep.
With his accomplishments, the forward was voted to his first All-Star game, All-NBA team, and landed himself a well deserved 5-year, $195 million contract extension with the franchise.
Now, 10 games into his followup season, Tatum is seemingly performing at an even greater level than he did in 2019-20, averaging 26.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and a steal per game on 47 percent shooting from the floor and 43 percent shooting from deep.
Thanks to his excellence — along with the next person on this list –, the Boston Celtics find themselves boasting the best record in the Eastern Conference at 8-4.
In short: you better believe Jayson Tatum is seen as a long-term fixture for this organization.
