The NBA seems to be moving towards expanding team rosters amid COVID-19 pandemic. Should this happen, there are a few players the Boston Celtics should consider signing.

The 2020-21 season was expected to be quite unique, as the league — let alone the world — is trying to make things work despite living through the global pandemic that is COVID-19. Despite being just under a month into action, one of the teams most affected by the NBA’s protective protocols has been the Boston Celtics.

Due to the league’s recently implemented rules on player contractions of the virus, three of the C’s scheduled games have gone on to be postponed and, according to several reports, another cancellation could be on the horizon.

Of course, many of these games have been forced into postponement due to teams having a lack of players on the roster eligible to suit up (a team must have at least eight active players).

Because of this, the decision-makers of the NBA are strongly considering the idea of expanding rosters in an effort to minimize the chances of future game cancelations.

Should this happen, and teams are allowed to add on a few more players, the Boston Celtics should strongly consider pursuing these 4 free agents:

Boston Celtics target No. 1) Dewayne Dedmon

First up, we have a player who we’ve discussed coming to the Boston Celtics on a few occasions in the past.

Dewayne Dedmon is not the sexiest names that you will find on this list but is a player that plays a position still in need of bolstering and provides specific attributes that the shamrocks could stand to benefit from acquiring.

Last seeing action with the Atlanta Hawks in 2019-20, the center posted averages of 8.1 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks a night in 23 minutes of action.

A defensive enforcer/ board gobbler who boasts shooting splits of 52 percent shooting from the floor, 33 percent shooting from deep, and 73 percent shooting from the free-throw line, the seventh-year veteran could be a sound add to provide efficient two-way play.

At 30-years-old, Dewayne Dedmon can still be a suitable presence down in the paint for a team such as Boston who, by all accounts, can use all the help they can in the front-line rotation.
