The Houdini asked Boston Celtics fans who the best player comparison for Payton Pritchard is. We got some very interesting answers.
Hardwood Houdini writes about the Boston Celtics, but we write for you.

Following his game-winning tip-in against the Miami Heat two nights ago, Payton Pritchard has been the toast of the town…to the point that the NY Post called him one of the steals of the 2020 NBA Draft along with Tyrese Haliburton:
"The other steal is Payton Pritchard, and he too had an eye-opening game on Wednesday night. Pritchard was taken with the 26th pick out of Oregon, and has found himself playing 22 minutes per game and averaging 8.3 points, good for fifth on the team.Pritchard only scored six points in the Celtics’ victory over the heat, but two of them were the game-winning putback with 0.2 seconds left to play. Two nights before, in a win over the Raptors, Pritchard scored a career-high 23 points and went 8-of-13 from the field."
It’s been quite the week for Pritchard, and given his success in the Cs lineup this week, HH was curious to see who you saw flashes of when watching the #26 pick.
You did not disappoint:
Some NBA legends were named, with John Stockton, Mark Price, and Jason Kidd being named as unbelievably best-case scenarios for the rookie sensation. Then again, Stockton wasn’t a lottery selection for the Utah Jazz, and Price wasn’t even a first-round pick for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
(A prime) Jeff Teague and Fred VanVleet are the two likeliest outcomes for Pritchard at his current trajectory. Becoming as good as the aforementioned players will take years of sustained greatness. Teague was a one-time All-Star and VanVleet is on the cusp of becoming one himself–although this transitional year in Tampa Bay may not be the time if the Raptors don’t start winning.
At worst, T.J. McConnell (aka a solid, if unspectacular backup) is the floor for Pritchard’s career according to our very own Marc Belleville.
