Why the Boston Celtics do it

Aaron Gordon has long been a target for Hardwood Houdini. At this moment in time, with the team embracing a traditional power forward in the lineup with Daniel Theis starting, Gordon is a particularly intriguing fit.

Terrence Ross could fill the more immediate role that Aaron Nesmith may not be ready for. His presence could allow the team to look for alternative ways to use the roster spots Semi Ojeleye and Javonte Green currently occupy.

Al-Farouq Aminu is included to make the money work, but he could hold value as a 3-and-D combo forward or a small-ball center.

The 2021 Orlando Magic first-round pick gets the deal done.

Why the Orlando Magic do it

The Orlando Magic have their long-term solution at the point guard spot when Fultz (hopefully) returns to form. They need a short-term option to bridge the gap until he is ready.

Enter Kemba Walker.

Walker and Nikola Vucevic could be deadly enough of a duo on their own to propel the Magic to a possible first-round upset, but having an All-NBA point guard will only help unlock all of the other weapons in the Orlando offense.

One such weapon could be Romeo Langford, who just hasn’t been able to make it happen in green and white. Perhaps a fresh start (or training staff) could reignite his career elsewhere.
