Why the Boston Celtics do it

Once upon a time, Isaac Bonga was miscast as a ball-handler for the Los Angeles Lakers. As part of LeBron James’ far-reaching roster decisions, Bonga was shipped to the Wizards along with Moritz Wagner last offseason.

Now, he is a rangy wing who offers unique attributes that could be very useful in the Celtics’ second unit. He would provide a nice defensive contrast to the bulky Semi Ojeleye with his length and lankiness.

Why the Washington Wizards do it

The Wizards have opened up the season 1-5, and it is evident that the Russell Westbrook experiment could well be a failure. At this point, Westbrook’s reputation is taking as much of a hit as James Harden’s is for the dysfunction he seemingly brings every franchise he is on.

If the Wizards’ season continues to migrate south, like the Rockets, they will be a good match for a deal involving Edwards. As you can tell, Edwards is not the hottest commodity on his own but coupled with draft picks, his low salary and upside can lead to the team fetching a fish that can help keep them afloat in the increasingly competitive Eastern Conference.
