The Boston Celtics come into the 2020-21 season with a boatload of hype, but through the first week of action, they have been reletively underwhelming.

Starting off the 2020-21 NBA season with exhilarating fashion, as their debut game was won on a last-second 3-pointer from Jayson Tatum, the Boston Celtics closed out their first week of action with a mere 1-2 record that included a late-game collapse and a full-fledged blowout.

While it’s impossible to pinpoint a team’s full-season trajectory off of just three outings, to say the C’s start to the season has gone “according to plan” would be a complete and utter farce.

According to Bleacher Report, one way to describe the team’s first week of action would be a disappointment.

Citing their record and a lack of support from the roster surrounding Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown as his main talking points, writer Andy Bailey went as far as to say the Celtics have been one of the biggest disappointments from the first week of the new season:

"… losing two of their first three, including a 28-point annihilation at the hands of the Brooklyn Nets, probably isn’t what the Celtics and their fans expected.Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have been solid, though we can nitpick with them. Tatum has just four free-throw attempts, and Brown is 3-of-13 from three. Improvements in those moneyball categories will help, but the supporting cast deserves more of the blame. No one else is averaging double figures. Marcus Smart, Tristan Thompson, Daniel Theis, Semi Ojeleye and Grant Williams are shooting worse than 50 percent from the field. If this team is going survive Walker’s absence, someone is going to have to help the star wings."

To be fair, Bailey did start things off by stating he believes the Boston Celtics deserve a pass due to the time it will likely take for them to get adjusted without Gordon Hayward (signed with Charlotte) and Kemba Walker (out with injury) to kick things off.

However, making sound points throughout, the claim still remained: thus far into 2020-21, the Cs have not lived up to expectations.
