Player who could benefit from Thompson’s absence No. 3) Tacko Fall

Though he may not have gotten much playing time during his rookie season in the NBA, Tacko Fall is one of the most beloved current members of the Boston Celtics and, heading into year-two, finds himself once again signed to a two-way deal with the franchise.

At this point in his career, the 7-5 center is still a work in progress which, in turn, means that any opportunity he gets to play will be absolutely priceless for his progressions.

In 2019-20, Fall only managed to see in-game action with the team’s official roster on just seven separate occasions, where he posted averages of 3.3 points, 2.1 rebounds, and over a half a block per game on 79 percent shooting from the floor.

For the majority of the year, he was logging minutes in the G-League with Boston’s affiliate team, the Main Red Claws. There, he served as a main staple in the rotation and posted solid averages of 12.9 points, 11.3 rebounds, and a whopping 3.1 blocks per game on 70 percent shooting from the floor.

While we don’t expect Fall’s participation on the active roster to drastically change in 2020-21, without Tristan Thompson at camp, the Senegalese supergiant has a chance to get more reps with specific lineups that he may not have gotten with the 29-year-old at full health.

Like we said, at this stage in his career every opportunity counts for Tacko Fall — for him, this of course includes opportunities found within training camp.
