Boston Celtics: 3 Aaron Gordon trades this offseason
If the NBA offseason still has fireworks in store for us, here are 3 trades the Boston Celtics could make to acquire Aaron Gordon.
The John Wall-Russell Westbrook trade has re-energized the Houdini as the NBA’s free agency/draft period winds down and training camp looms in the imminent future. Given the unpredictable nature of the NBA offseason, I’m not writing off the prospect of a Boston Celtics trade before the season starts.
Given Kemba Walker’s left knee injury and the continued complications it has caused over the past year, perhaps it is time the team looks to move on from his deal before it starts to age like a certain max contract forward that bolted town for the Queen City.
I digress.
Anyway, if a deal goes down, the Cs will likely look to add a wing with floor-spacing abilities based on team need. Given Marcus Smart’s versatility as a combo guard and the team’s success without Kemba Walker in the lineup last season, replacing the All-NBA floor general in a deal isn’t absolutely necessary.
Given the Orlando Magic recently testing the trade waters with Aaron Gordon, here are 3 deals aimed at bringing the combo big on board:
Why the Boston Celtics do it
The first deal is a clean straight swap between the Cs and the Magic that swaps out the oft-injured Walker for Gordon and the expiring deal of Evan Fournier. Gordon is the perfect power forward-fit next to Jayson Tatum, while Fournier is a 15+ point per game scorer for Brad Stevens’ bench.
Why the Orlando Magic do it
A Kemba Walker reunion with Steve Clifford in Orlando would be heartwarming, and seeing two guy who made a name for themselves end up in Central Florida makes sense from a life progression standpoint.
This won’t be the first deal that lands Walker in O-town.
