Player to target using trade exception No. 3) Aaron Gordon, Orlando Magic

Generally, when we discuss a deal between the Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic, we’re discussing the possibility of the Cs acquiring young center Mo Bamba. However, with this trade exception and their apparent need for a legitimate starting power forward, we shift our sights to the likes of sixth-year pro, Aaron Gordon.

Originally seen as a freakish athlete and “just a dunker”, Gordon has developed into quite an all-around talent in this league (à la Blake Griffin).

Over the past couple of days, the Houdini has seen the likes of Aaron Gordon’s name pop up in the Twitterverse as a potential target for the team this offseason — and, keep in mind, this was prior to the arrival of the trade exception.

Now, this idea seems a bit more realistic, especially considering the fact that he was reportedly inquired about by numerous teams already this offseason.

During the 2019-20 campaign, Gordon posted averages of 14.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 3.7 assists on 44 percent shooting from the floor.

With him in tow, the Boston Celtics would have themselves a fantastic pick & roll player at the four who will draw a defense’s attention whenever he is in the vicinity of the rim, can sky-high for lob passes, and who has also improved upon his 3-point shot since entering the league.

Frankly, with Aaron Gordon, this already impressive offense would simply just get even better.
