The Houdini has caught wind that Danny Ainge was hunting for a blockbuster that would have landed a top-five pick. Said deal would have also shipped out recent newcomer Kemba Walker.

It seems as though the trade winds were blowing a storm that would have brought youth to the Boston Celtics rotation. Kemba Walker would be the main asset given up by Danny Ainge and his front office.

Just a year after signing him, another max contract guy would be going by the wayside in a matter of a few years. Gordon Hayward had just two healthy years and is now heading to the Queen City to…be featured as the third option in a Charlotte Hornets offense commandeered by LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier?

Better than being the fourth option I suppose. All the best to the man that inspired countless conversations on this site and across the Celtics blogosphere. I truly got to explore so many opportunities due to the juiciness of him playing on a comeback tour after suffering one of the most brutal and untimely major injuries in NBA television history.

But, anyway, Kemba? Gone after one season?

Danny Ainge explored it:

"Boston Celtics president and general manager Danny Ainge is no stranger to trading point guards, having done so with Isaiah Thomas and Terry Rozier — both fan favorites — in the last few seasons. That’s what makes a recent report from The Athletic’s Zach Harper all the more believable."

He names the Cavaliers and Bulls as two teams that were actively talking about a deal:

"According to Harper, Ainge tried to move into the top-5 of the 2020 NBA Draft by using All-Star point guard Kemba Walker as trade bait. Harper lists the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers, who had the fourth and fifth overall picks in the draft respectively, as the two teams that the Celtics approached for a trade."

Get to shopping now folks. Celebrate Cyber Monday and tomorrow we will get into some deals of a different variety.
