The Houdini wants to unsee the horrific events of Saturday night’s boxing event that saw former Boston Celtics guard Nate Robinson get knocked out by useless famous person Jake Paul.

I genuinely didn’t know why Jake Paul was famous ahead of his fight with former Boston Celtics point guard Nate Robinson. After watching him dismantle the former 3x NBA Slam Dunk champion in the second round of an exhibition boxing match on Saturday–the co-main event feature for Mike Tyson’s return “fight”–I looked into it.

I’m embarrassed for this country.

Paul is neither comical nor musically talented. My ears could not handle more than a few seconds of his horrid performing voice. He could not be more visually bothersome if he tried with his bleached blonde hair and comically inflated sense of self-worth.

I truly wish the NBA community could have been the one to silence Paul last night, but alas, Nate Robinson was far from up for the challenge.

Unfortunately, Robinson’s inexperience in a boxing ring led to him getting pummeled by someone who now is brazen enough to challenge fellow loud-mouth Conor McGregor. Knowing one of them could get knocked out is a sweet thought (even though the fight would never happen), but no thought is sweeter than that of Paul tasting the canvas in the same fashion Chad Mendes, Eddie Alvarez, and–most recently–Donald Cerrone have.

The Houdini would rather be spending this space talking about the final details of how the Gordon Hayward sign-and-trade shook out, but instead, the only news that came from this past Thanksgiving weekend Saturday was that of a former Celtic losing to someone who makes money off of being completely offputting to the grand majority of the world.

As the 2020-21 season approaches, Cs fans are cautiously optimistic good news will start creeping its way into the news cycle. This offseason hasn’t been filled with victories, but perhaps things could turn a corner after the weirdest night of 2020 ended in a disappointing fashion.
