Why the Boston Celtics do it

So, like the last deal, a veteran floor general would be making his way to Beantown in a three-team deal sending Hayward to the Hornets. Instead of the 34-year-old George Hill, though, former Celtics postseason hero Terry Rozier would be making his return to the TD Garden.

Rozier has spent just one season away from the Cs, but it is clear that his best days were under Brad Stevens in Boston. He had difficulties wrestling the lead ball-handler duties away from undersized second-year volume shooter Devonte Graham.

A return to the team he came within one game of the NBA Finals with as the starting point guard just makes all the sense in the world for Rozier, but it makes just as much sense for Danny Ainge and co., adding another point guard who can play alongside Kemba Walker after signing Jeff Teague in free agency.

Mike Muscala is a nice floor-spacer who can play either the 4 or the 5 with the Celtics.

Why the Charlotte Hornets do it

To, ya know, sign Gordon Hayward.

Why the Oklahoma City Thunder do it

This is the same return for Oklahoma City, as they take on the expiring deals of both Batum and Ojeleye for the opportunity to add even more draft picks to one of the most obnoxious collections of draft assets the league has maybe ever seen.

In this deal, they send out Mike Muscala to open up more roster room for potential salary dumps.
