Whether right now or by the next trade deadline, the Boston Celtics could look to find a new home for Robert Williams with Tristan Thompson in town. Here are five possible landing spots for the “Time Lord”.

The idea of Robert Williams has been a lot more appealing than the actual real-life performance of the “Time Lord”. Unfortunately, it has taken many missed games for the Boston Celtics to actually understand that.

Look, when Williams is in the game, great things can happen. He has adept finishing ability on lob and put-backs, and he has shown the ability to knock down a 12-15 footer from time to time.

In fact, he was a standout against the Toronto Raptors back in the second round of the NBA postseason. Williams’ value may have never been higher than it is right now. He was a second-round pick that had the tools to be good but was always seen as raw.

You can’t really call someone that was essential in the team winning an Eastern Conference semifinals series raw anymore.

Now, Danny Ainge has the option of developing him behind Daniel Theis and Tristan Thompson or sending him to a team with more use for him. At the end of the day, Williams’ development as a player and person should be honored whether in green and white or not.

Here are 5 possible landing spots in a potential deal:

Houston Rockets

Christian Wood and DeMarcus Cousins basically comprise the haul for the Houston Rockets this offseason in free agency–a funny thought considering they didn’t even play a traditional center during the postseason and for much of the year.

If James Harden misses what it was like to toss up lobs to the center a la Clint Capela, Williams is the perfect cost-controlled talent to replace him and continue to bury the small-ball era.
