Boston Celtics: 3 sign-and-trade destinations for Gordon Hayward
By Mark Nilon
Sign-and-trade destination No. 3) Charlotte Hornets
In this past draft, the Charlotte Hornets opted to select polarizing talent Lamelo Ball with their third overall selection. Despite some of his flaws, the point guard was seen by many as the best player in this year’s draft and, in turn, gives the franchise their biggest name since the days of Kemba Walker.
Growing a small market team’s appeal is a fantastic thing for both the NBA as a whole and, of course, that respective team, for it adds more potential revenue outlets and greater opportunities to attract future talents.
With Ball manning the point guard spot and Vernon Carey manning the middle, the team could use for a player with Hayward’s talents to be slotted right in the middle to better space the floor and provide better ball movement within the offense.
Surrounding Ball with as much floor-pacing offensive talent as they can would be a fantastic mindset for the Hornets to have this offseason, for it would provide him with ample players to dish to and, in turn, could help showcase his distribution skills, while also clearing lanes for the shotty jump shooter to drive and finish at the rim.
Hayward and Charlotte have shown to have an interest in uniting in the past. Perhaps this is the perfect time to make up for lost time.
