Boston Celtics: The top 3 Hawks and Pacers targets in a potential Hayward trade
Cam Reddish
While the NBA community may be a tad bit more down on Cam Reddish than they were before his rookie season, someone with as much upside as the soon-to-be sophomore should be seen as a high-value asset even if his ascent didn’t leave the tarmac like we all would have hoped it would.
Reddish’s per-game stats were far from eye-popping, with 10.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists being poured in per game. Worse yet, his shooting splits were borderline dreadful at 38/33/80.
Luckily, that may have actually lowered his value just enough for the Cs to avoid giving up a ransom besides Hayward in any deal.
Kevin Huerter
Interestingly enough, Kevin Huerter’s shooting split isn’t dramatically different from Reddish’s. The Glens Falls, NY native just happens to be a significantly better 3-point shooter at this stage in his career and can possibly even contribute moreso off a Boston Celtics bench that just added three rookies.
Huerter just doesn’t have superstar potential and may never reach a much higher gear than the one he is experiencing right now. And that’s okay. The Cs don’t need another superstar. Huerter can be an ideal role player instead.
John Collins
Depending on where contract talks head this offseason, John Collins may be similarly looking for a way out of town. Collins is the best player of the three right now, but the one potential hold-up on Atlanta’s end would be prematurely ending the Trae Young-Collins pairing.
Then again, enough future draft picks could have Atlanta reconsidering that stance real quick. That’s on Danny Ainge to figure out whether or not this team can win a title (with Collins in tow) quickly enough to justify mortgaging the future.
