Boston Celtics Draft: Why Aaron Nesmith makes sense for Cs
By Ian Riaf
Final Verdict
Would drafting Aaron Nesmith at the 14th spot make sense for the Boston Celtics?
Yes
Why?
Floor spacing and, compared to Saddiq Bey, Nesmith offers slightly more offensive potential in the pure scoring department.
Is Nesmith the best shooter available at the wing spot in this 12-18 range?
Yes! Despite a limited sample size, this is still the case.
Is Nesmith the best fit for the Cs?
If you value floor spacing over primary initiation, then yes.
If you value floor spacing over size at the center spot, yes.
If not, then no.
Overall, I believe Nesmith is the highest vertical shooting gravity prospect in this draft.
Should the Boston Celtics Draft Aaron Nesmith?
If all high lottery picks are off the board, the Boston Celtics should select Aaron Nesmith with the 14th pick in this year’s draft. While most project him as a high floor, low ceiling type of player, I’d be willing to raise the roof a bit more and call him a mid-ceiling prospect.
The Celtics have several projects still on this roster. Romeo Langford and Robert Williams III are still developing. This team needs a sure thing, and Aaron Nesmith gives Boston just that.
Given the limited roster flexibility and uncertainty with financials, the franchise should draft for fit over the best player available at the 14th spot.
