Gordon Hayward will make his decision today on what he wishes to do with the final year of his contract with the Boston Celtics.

For the past few weeks, it’s seemingly been a long ride on a roller coaster of emotions for the Boston Celtics and their loyal fanbase.

Despite making it to within two games of reaching their first NBA Finals appearance in over a decade, so far into the 2020 offseason the rumor mill has constantly been spinning, and the Cs have found themselves ingrained within the rotation.

From free agency targets to draft rumors, Boston has been linked to copious amounts of potential offseason exchanges.

Perhaps the biggest news to come out since the 2019-20 campaign ended has been the team’s forward, Gordon Hayward‘s apparent desire to jump ship before the start of next season.

According to ESPN’s Ryen Russillo, Hayward is seriously considering opting-out of the final year of his 4-year, $127 million contract in search of one last long-term deal. That said, there are many factors that will come into play when making his mind up.

"“I’ve heard Gordon Hayward does want out, but I don’t know if he’s going to get the money. He’s not opting out of that huge number unless he knows he’s getting the deal.”"

Whatever his choice may be, the likes of us outside of the Boston Celtics franchise will know within the next several hours, as the deadline for the forward to make a decision is scheduled for today at 5 PM (ET).

2019-20 was a resurgence year for the former All-Star. After a rough, injury-plagued start to his tenure with the C’s organization, Hayward posted impressive all-around averages of 17.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.1 assists on 50 percent shooting from the field and 38 percent shooting from downtown.

There are reportedly numerous teams interested in the 30-year-old’s services should he wind up opting-out of his contract. That said, there are also plenty of trade ideas we and many other media outlets have concocted in the case that he opts-in.

One way or another, it would appear that a breakup between Hayward and Boston could very well be on the horizon, and we’ll find more out about the forward’s future today by 5 PM.

Next. 2 trades to make if Gordon Hayward opts out. dark
