Realistic trade for the Boston Celtics No. 3) Mo Bamba comes to Beantown

The idea of the Boston Celtics pursuing Mo Bamba is not a new idea for the Houdini. In fact, just a few months ago it was a common trend for us at the site to concoct packages that could bring on the former lottery pick.

Trapped behind a trio of talented players in the Orlando Magic frontcourt — Nikola Vucevic, Aaron Gordon, and Jonathan Isaac — during his short tenure in the association, the second-year center has only managed to amass an average of 15.1 minutes per game throughout his young profession.

However, when given substantial time on the court, Bamba has managed to make the most of his opportunities.

In 2019-20, when bestowed 20-29 minutes of action, the 22-year-old found himself averaging 10 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game on 52 percent shooting from the floor and a stellar 70 percent shooting from deep.

Like we said earlier, trapped behind the likes of Vucevic, Gordon, and Isaac on the depth chart, it appears Bamba’s talents are wallowing away, leaving Orlando with a valuable commodity that is simply collection cobwebs.

With this, it may be wise for the front office to try and exchange the 7-0 big man to better fill out the Magic’s roster. One way they could accomplish this is by partnering with the Boston Celtics and add on 2019-20 lottery pick Romeo Langford and a couple of first-round selections in this year’s draft.

Despite an injury-plagued campaign, the Indiana-born wing showed flashes throughout his rookie season. Playing in 32 games, Langford posted averages of 2.5 points and 1.3 rebounds while showcasing himself to be an impressive defensive player.

Swapping Bamba for a young wing — a position in need of bolstering — and two first-round picks could prove to be a solid haul for the Magic, especially considering they have barely played him thus far into his career.

In turn, the Boston Celtics add a floor-spacing/ defensive-oriented center who they could have for years to come to man down the middle.
