Gordon Hayward replacement No. 2) T.J. Warren

Often, when we’ve discussed the idea of a trade between the Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers, the packages we concoct generally revolve around bringing in one of either Victor Oladipo or Myles Turner.

That said, in a majority of the proposed deals we’ve seen other players attached coming from Indiana to Beantown as salary matches, for these trades typically see Hayward and his $34 million final-year salary — assuming he opts in — involved.

Alongside the likes of Turner, specifically, we’ve seen the sixth-year wing T.J. Warren’s name attached several times. While convincing the Pacers to part with both of these aforementioned talents may be a tough task to accomplish, it’s nowhere near out of the realm of possibility, especially if Danny Ainge put together a package of Hayward — again, assuming he opts in –, Daniel Theis, and a couple of first-round picks.

Warren had himself a career year in 2019-20. Through 67 games with the franchise the 26-year-old put up impressive averages of 19.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game on 54 percent shooting from the field and 40 percent shooting from deep.

Proving to be one of the breakout stars from the Disney bubble while Oladipo was out — averaged 20 points and 6.3 rebounds on 37 percent shooting from deep in the postseason — Warren showed that he has what it takes to serve as both a secondary option within a rotation as well as a primary one.
