The Boston Celtics could be in line to make some trades this offseason. Should they wish to use their lone lottery pick as collateral, there are a few deals they could make.

The Boston Celtics have been rumored to be interested in making moves this offseason. These whispers have not just come from us but, frankly, everywhere across the media.

Recently, it was even reported that the team may be inquiring about possibilities to utilize one or all of their first-round picks in the upcoming draft in some sort of package this offseason.

Of all their capital, their lone lottery pick at 14th overall is clearly the most valuable and, thus, would be the most highly sought after draft asset via any hypothetical trade.

Should Danny Ainge and co. actually look to deal said pick, there are 3 specific trades they should consider pursuing:

Boston Celtics trade idea No. 1) Cs move up in the draft

This has been one of the most highly covered hypothetical trade scenarios of late involving the Boston Celtics. A few weeks back, Bill Simmons suggested the aforementioned swap on Zach Lowe’s podcast, The Lowe Post, and wrote it off as a toss-up as to which team would be getting the bigger end of the stick.

"“So Golden State calls Boston, and they say we really want Marcus Smart…we will offer the No. 2. Overall Pick for Marcus Smart and Pick No. 14. What does Boston do?”"

While we here at the Houdini have stated that we’d hope the Celtics would not do such a deal, our sister site, Blue Man Hoop, has actually gone about insinuating that such a deal would be of some benefit for the Golden State Warriors.

"Last season, Smart averaged 12.9 points, 4.9 assists and 1.7 steals per game. He has improved as a shooter and playmaker who can serve as a reliable backup guard for the Dubs if this is the path they choose."

Should Boston’s front office be hell-bent on moving up in the draft, this may prove to be the biggest haul they’d be able to receive.
