The Houdini continues to rip through the offseason with another installment of our favorite Boston Celtics related past-time: trading Gordon Hayward.

Another day, another chance to imagine a world where the Boston Celtics improve their bench and upgrade their starting lineup in the same transaction as a Gordon Hayward trade. It’s clear that this is where this is going, and in all honesty that has been the case since the 2017 All-Star failed to even crack the starting lineup by the time the postseason rolled around in his first season healthy in Beantown.

With Hayward reportedly wanting out of his contract, Ryan Russillo broke down the reality of the situation on Bill Simmons’ podcast:

"“I’ve heard Gordon Hayward does want out, but I don’t know if he’s going to get the money. He’s not opting out of that huge number unless he knows he’s getting the deal.”"

The kid gloves have been off, but they are certainly thrown to the wayside given Hayward’s reported desire to not wear green and white in 2020-21. Trading him is all but an absolute must at this point…even if it seemed like an ingenuine idea during the postseason when he missed the birth of his fourth child to be with the Cs.

Perhaps trading him early could have prevented Boston from being in a situation where they may lose him for nothing.

The more likely scenario, however, is an opt-in-and-trade, and a team that can make sense as a potential one-year landing spot could be the Toronto Raptors. Here are 2 multi-team deals the Houdini has come up with to send Hayward up north:
