Boston Celtics: 3 realistic players to trade for using each first-round pick
By Mark Nilon
Player the Boston Celtics could trade for with No. 26 pick: Larry Nance Jr.
Similar to the concept behind why the Boston Celtics could consider trading one of their picks for Nemanja Bjelica, Larry Nance Jr. also fits the bill, except it’ll likely take stronger value to acquire him.
Enter the No. 26 pick into the equation.
The high-flying slam-dunking power forward managed to expand his game outside of the paint this past season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, upping his 3-point percentage to never before seen career highs.
Through 56 games, the 27-year-old posted highs virtually all across the board with averages of 10.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, and a steal per game on 53 percent shooting from the floor and 35 percent shooting from deep.
Like Bjelica, Nance would prove to be a fantastic asset to have for this Cs frontcourt rotation off the bench, and could produce right out of the gates come 2020-21.
In the piece we mentioned in the opening slide discussing how the Boston Celtics have reportedly looked into packaging their picks together to acquire a veteran talent, Zach Lowe mentioned a few examples of players in which could fit the bill.
Nance was one of the players mentioned.
"“This is why you hear Larry Nance Jr.’s name a lot across the league — in addition to the big names in Oklahoma City (Paul, Gallinari, and Dennis Schroder),” Lowe wrote in his piece for ESPN. “Schroder would draw strong interest, sources say.”"
While Nance later took to Twitter expressing his disinterest in being traded from the franchise, ultimately the NBA is a business and, should the front office be interested in flipping the sixth-year veteran for a first-round pick to add to this rebuilding team, his fate might be completely out of his hands.
