Boston Celtics free agency: 3 center targets Cs should prioritize for MLE

With free agency approaching later this month, the Boston Celtics need to focus on prioritizing these free agent centers with the mid-level exception.

Now that it’s November, the prospect of the 2020-21 season is more real than ever. If you haven’t heard, the NBA plans on bringing the NBA back in time for its annual all-day showcase on Christmas day (Boston Celtics and egg nog baby) even though the players would prefer a start date closer to Martin Luther King day in mid-January.

Ultimately it will come down to money. The NBPA stands to lose a ton if they opt for the later date, with a 50-game being the likely scenario in that case as opposed to the planned 72-game slate the league has in mind.

The latter situation would be ideal considering the league would keep continuity in the form of another season with around just 10 games less than the typical regular season the league had going since the lockout-shortened 2011-12 campaign.

Either way, free agency has been planned for November for quite some time. With the league able to follow through on their timeline of finishing the season late–and that included postseason boycotts by the players in honor of the ongoing fight for racial equality in this country–it is now in the position to get right back to games or listen to their players while honoring their own timeline for the offseason.

The Boston Celtics have the capability of adding one impact free-agent via their mid-level exception, which is likely to be a taxpayer’s pro-rated version. Here are 3 center targets they should pursue:
