Trading Hayward to acquire Myles Turner

The first deal is a continuation of a HH 2020 offseason past-time of trading Gordon Hayward away to acquire Myles Turner in a 3-team deal involving the Miami Heat. Boston would also acquire T.J. Warren, Kelly Olynyk, and Aaron Holiday.

The Pacers would bring in a haul that includes Hayward, Tyler Herro, Daniel Theis, and three first-round picks from the Boston Celtics. Miami would land their preferred target Victor Oladipo and take on the contracts of Vincent Poirier and Carsen Edwards.

Why the Boston Celtics do it

Packaging Hayward and the lesser two first-round picks from this year and a pick that should ideally be in the 25-30 range next year to upgrade the center position and overhaul the bench is the kind of move you make 10 times out of 10. If the Boston-Turner marriage is to be, the Cs should bring a lot more on board with him.

Why the Indiana Pacers do it

Bringing on Hayward, Tyler Herro, and Daniel Theis to a team that seems best-suited building around the budding star duo of Malcolm Brogdon and Domantas Sabonis is smart in its own right, but adding three future first-rounders makes this a best-case scenario for trading away three starters.

Why the Miami Heat do it

The Heat seem to really want Victor Oladipo, so giving up just Tyler Herro, Kelly Olynyk, and taking on the microscopic albatross deals of Poirier and Edwards to get it done is a small price to pay for a potentially grand payoff.
