Team that could trade for 14th overall pick No. 1) New York Knicks

Ah, the Knicks. A friendly reminder to the rest of the league’s franchises that, even when it seems that they may have hit rock bottom, there’s always another level below.

That level: New York.

Despite rostering six former lottery selections, the team achieved minimal success in their latest campaign (21-45) and, once again, find themselves back in the hunt for the “franchise savior”, as they head into this year’s draft in possession of the No. 8 overall pick.

Now, while one may believe that a rebuilding team such as the Knickerbockers may want to utilize such a high selection in an attempt to bring on a highly-touted incoming rookie to properly build for the future, reports have it that the franchise is ‘seriously considering’ trading back in the draft.

Should this prove to be the case, it may be wise of Danny Ainge and co. to pick up the phone and inquire about what it might take to exchange selections.

In the Celtics Wire’s piece that is linked above, writer Justin Quinn suggests that a package consisting of Carsen Edwards and picks No. 14 and 46 or 30 could be enough to get a deal done.

While I think even a team as irresponsible as the Knicks may need a bit more than what is mentioned above, the fact that it’s a possibility is all the reason as to why the Boston Celtics should consider negotiating with them.
