Boston Celtics: 3 teams that could trade for No. 14 pick

The Boston Celtics hold the rights to the 14th overall pick in this year’s draft. Should they opt to shop it, there are a few teams that could be interested.

Even through all the adversities that 2020 brought to the NBA, let alone the world, the Boston Celtics still managed to come away from their latest campaign with their heads held high.

Despite losing a large chunk of their core rotation during the 2019 offseason, the Cs managed to make the most of their predicament, winning just one less game than the previous season — in 10 fewer games, mind you –, finished with the fifth-best record in the entire league, and advanced to their third Eastern Conference Finals in four years.

Now, after such a successful year, the shamrocks come into the offseason with momentum as they try to build off of the campaign that was.

The first domino to fall this offseason will be the upcoming NBA Draft, where Boston holds the rights to three first-round selections, one of which finds itself in the lottery at 14th overall.

Often throughout the years the franchise has found itself holding onto ample draft capital but has neglected to capitalize on its value within the trade circuit. While it has worked out with them not dealing their picks on some occasions — Jaylen Brown in 2016 & Jayson Tatum in 2017 –, a majority of them have wound up proving to be forgettable or easily replaceable.

This time around, they may want to re-think their approach to the draft and consider dealing one or more of their picks for either a higher selection or an already established NBA player to help them immediately.

Obviously, their No. 14 overall pick is the one that possesses the most value and, in turn, would bring about the most buzz should it be reported the Celtics were willing to shop it.
