Boston Celtics Mock Draft 3.0: Cs solve center problem, add bench depth
By Mark Nilon
With the 26th overall pick, the Boston Celtics select: Leandro Bolmaro, Barcelona
Leandro Bolmaro is perhaps one of the most intriguing prospects coming into this year’s NBA Draft. Playing for FC Barcelona since 2018, the 20-year-old Argentinian has built quite a reputation as a flat out baller on the hardwood.
Labeled “the chosen one” and “the Messi of basketball”, Bolmaro comes into this year’s draft as an extremely polarizing prospect, especially with the fact that the league has seen great results of late when dealing with highly touted European/ foreign players — Luka Doncic, Kristaps Porzingis, Nikola Jokic, etc.
Viewed by many analysts and somewhat of a Manu Ginóbili-lite, the 6-7 wing has managed to tantalize his opposition offensively with his impressive combination of speed, ball control, and court vision.
Defensively, he has proven to be quite a menace, as he has the ability to stay in front of his assignment due to his all-around quickness and possesses great instincts when closing out.
With the fact that the Boston Celtics could use for an extra player to properly run an offense while Kemba Walker finds time on the pine, bringing aboard an offensive initiator like Bolmaro could prove to be quite beneficial for a second-unit that ranked 29th points per game (28.5), 28th 3-point efficiency, and 20th offensive rating (53.6).
