Boston Celtics: 2 multi-team Gordon Hayward trades to the Indiana Pacers
Paul George and Gordon Hayward return home
In this multi-superstar blockbuster swap, the Indiana Pacers return home their former face of the franchise in Paul George as well as Indiana native Gordon Hayward. The Boston Celtics would once again nab Myles Turner and Doug McDermott, but would also see Landry Shamet join the ranks. The Los Angeles Clippers would get a haul designed to compliment Kawhi Leonard’s skillset in acquiring Victor Oladipo, T.J. Warren, Daniel Theis, Romeo Langford, a first-round pick, and a second-round pick.
Why the Boston Celtics do it
We have proposed similar trade proposals in the past here at HH that have included flipping Hayward and the lowest pick in the upcoming draft (#30 via Milwaukee) to bring on Turner, McDermott, and more. Landry Shamet is a perfect “more”, as the defensive wing can provide shooting off the pine that the Cs don’t currently possess in their artillery.
Why the Los Angeles Clippers do it
If Paul George is a goner, like Shaquille O’Neal says he should be, there are a lot worse trade returns than two players capable of putting up 20+ points nightly in Victor Oladipo and T.J. Warren.
Daniel Theis would be a good hedge against Montrezl Harrell signing elsewhere this offseason, Romeo Langford would be Landry Shamet’s replacement, and then of course the draft picks are a nice way to recoup some value for George after what it took to acquire him.
Why the Indiana Pacers do it
To take a disgruntled Oladipo-Turner pairing and flip that into a Paul George-Gordon Hayward combo would be a major win for Indiana…and shoot them up most pundits’ projections for the 2020-21 season.
A Malcolm Brogdon-Aaron Holiday-Paul George-Gordon Hayward-Domantas Sabonis lineup would be among the most talented in the east.
