Aron Baynes

Favale’s argument for why an Aron Baynes reunion would be in play for the Cs is the current existing center corps being somewhat undermanned and the mid-level exception serving a greater purpose to land a big man than a guard:

"“Though Boston has plenty of bigs on the docket—Kanter, Theis, Grant Williams, Robert Williams III—the mini MLE figures to net a higher-caliber center than guard. Aron Baynes is on the loftier end of the spectrum but may not be totally out of reach. The Phoenix Suns needn’t spend a boatload to keep him with Deandre Ayton in tow, and it’s tough to pinpoint another team that might offer him the non-taxpayer mid-level exception.”"

Baynes is attainable, but the most pressing question is what the Boston Celtics may do with their existing centers if the Aussie is brought back on board. Ideally, Enes Kanter and Vincent Poirier can be moved, with Kanter even being an option to find a new home in free agency.

Tacko Fall is also on a two-way contract for a finite amount of time before a decision must be made on his future. Baynes is a more reliable option who pushes Boston closer to Banner #18, but these are the relevant questions that surround his potential signing.

Likelihood to sign: 7/10 due to the team’s needs and existing depth
