Boston Celtics: 2 offseason FA signings that could start for Cs in 2020-21

2020 free agency may dictate that true impact players can be had at below-market rates. If this is the case, the Boston Celtics could sign these undervalued stars…and push Gordon Hayward or Daniel Theis to the bench.

This offseason may be a worst-case scenario for prospective free agents but a best-case scenario for the Boston Celtics. Given all of the losses the NBA is suffering from–due to the pandemic-related shutdown keeping fans out of arenas–available free agents may not see the piece of the pie they usually do.

Of course, that excludes the guys at the very top. Those wondering whether or not Anthony Davis will collect every available penny from the Los Angeles Lakers after helping them win their seventeenth banner (and creating a painful tie for the most in league history) can rest easy. The Brow is set to be paid. Also, don’t allow the wealth of superstar athletes to dictate your sleep schedule.

Anyway, the possible dearth of free agent funds this offseason should make things very easy to navigate for teams who will be looking to pinch pennies whenever possible to reverse the financial damage done by COVID-19.

The Cs–a team knee-deep in the luxury tax–will be one of those teams, and their status as a true NBA contender will help them attract players willing to take less money on their next deal to win a championship.
