The Boston Celtics could help elevate the ceiling of a Western Conference contender while also strengthening their own bench. Here are 2 Houdini-approved deals with the Dallas Mavericks.

My co-editor Mark Nilon recently tackled the issue of what teams should engage the Boston Celtics in a deal for Gordon Hayward. Here’s why felt the Dallas Mavericks were a perfect potential landing spot for the 2017 All-Star:

"Though we may live in the era of dynamic-duos there are a few teams that are seemingly on the brink of the old “big-three” fad. The Dallas Mavericks are certainly one of those teams. Adding a veteran presence who has an impressive all-around offensive skill-set and experience leading a team on his own would be a solid piece to slide in as a third option in the starting rotation alongside Doncic and Porzingis. Be it utilizing him as a floor-spacer, a facilitator, or a shot creator adding a healthy Hayward to this already immaculate offense would only work wonders for the franchise."

In terms of forming a big-3, no team allows Hayward the chance to regain his former form quite as Dallas does. By nature of their best players being top-notch a facilitator at the point guard spot and a floor-spacing big man, the Mavericks have the skillsets from their existing stars that would allow Hayward to slide in as a decoy tertiary option. His 3-point shooting and ability to run the fast-break should make Doncic even more dangerous.

That Hayward is such a good fit in Dallas has the Houdini coming up with the following scenarios aimed at maximizing a potential return:
