Boston Celtics trade idea No. 1) Jayson Tatum heads to the Dallas Mavericks

In this specific trade scenario, we see the Boston Celtics swapping Jayson Tatum and the Memphis Grizzlies’ No. 14 pick in the upcoming draft for Dallas Mavericks star Luca Doncic.

While Buckley adamantly claimed the unlikelihood of any such scenario, going as far as to say that there’s “less than a zero percent chance” Marc Cuban would be foolish enough to trade the Slovenian-born baller, should push come to shove this was deemed the return package to consider.

The reasoning behind why Buckley landed on Tatum heading to Dallas read as follows:

"It would take a young centerpiece and more to even make the Mavs think, and that’s exactly what the Celtics would pony up in this exchange… Tatum, meanwhile, would settle into the driver’s seat in Dallas and might see his playmaking improvement accelerated with a greater responsibility in that role. But he’d have ample room to work his isolation magic in this enviably spaced five-out attack, and he could run a lot of the same two-man actions that Doncic does with Kristaps Porzingis."

With giving no disrespect to Tatum, though some would view this as a questionable deal from the side of Dallas, for the Boston Celtics this idea would be a no-brainer.

Already an MVP candidate, adding a talent such as Luka Doncic would help the team’s overall flow, including the facilitation game — where they ranked 25th in the association –, allowing for guys like Walker and Brown to roam freely and find open spots for easy buckets, and would also likely improve upon the scoring punch Tatum currently provides (ranked 6th in the league in points per game with 28.8 in comparison to Tatum’s 15th ranked 23.4).

Though not the most realistic of trades, this Tatum for Doncic swap is easily the most ideal for the shamrocks and, quite frankly, the only one Danny Ainge should really consider dealing his face of the franchise for.
