Utah Jazz

Long before Kanter was wearing the uniform for one of the most legendary franchises in the history of basketball, he was a clean-shaven rookie playing for one of the more mundane teams across the league, the Utah Jazz.

Failing to ever be much of a contender during his three and a half seasons in Utah, the Jazz have gone on to never make it past the second round of the Western Conference playoffs in the years since Kanter’s departure.

That included a run that saw Gordon Hayward elevate his game to an All-Star level as well as the emergence of Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert and one of this postseason’s bubble breakout stars Donovan Mitchell.

Like they were when he was traded, the Utah Jazz are a playoff contender that can easily fall out if they can’t improve their bench. Kanter would be a huge step forward offensively for a team that relied on Jordan Clarkson for second unit scoring.

The time may be right for a reunion, even if Kanter won’t enjoy the relative quiet of Salt Lake City as much as the bright lights of Boston and New York.
