Boston Celtics: 2 players who could have increased roles in 2020-21

Despite their need for improvements across the roster, the Boston Celtics have a couple of players deserving of increased roles come 2020-21.

2019-20 was a season that proved the Boston Celtics are so close to getting over the hump in reaching their first NBA Finals since 2010. Whether it be from external sources such as the Mid-Level Exception, via the NBA Draft, or through a blockbuster trade (Danny Ainge is long overdue in this department) there also figures to be internal improvements that can be made as well.

As things currently stand, the shamrocks’ roster is flush with young talent, either in the beginning stages of blossoming or are simply right around the corner from doing so. Though they do have high-level veteran players such as Kemba Walker and Gordon Hayward in tow, it is their young nucleus of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown that will ultimately guide this team forward to where they wish to be.

That said, changes still must be made in regard to this rotation moving forward.

Despite our constant suggestions of players in which the team should pursue this offseason — ** cough ** cough, Serge Ibaka –, as inferred to earlier, perhaps the easiest way of improving the rotation moving forward could be from promoting within.

By this, we mean, Head Coach Brad Stevens could theoretically bestow a few lucky players currently on the roster an increased role by the time the 2020-21 season winds up rolling around.

In our eyes, however, there are only a couple of players we believe are deserving of such a “promotion.”

With that said, here are the 2 players who are deserving of an increased role heading into next season:
