Boston Celtics trade target No. 2) Buddy Hield

Now, while we just went on to say the Boston Celtics have many other areas aside from their wing position that they must look to improve this offseason, Buddy Hield is a bit of an exception.

This is by no means us saying we view the Sacramento King’s guard as a better talent than Oladipo but, being he’d likely be more willing to accept a bench role if acquired by the Cs than the All-Star, coupled with the fact that he’d cost less to acquire, Hield easily would help improve one of the team’s biggest weaknesses within the rotation: second-unit scoring.

In 2019-20 Boston’s bench ranked 29th in the league in points per game (28.5), 28th in 3-point percentage (31.8), and 20th in offensive rating (53.6). Their offensive woes rolled right along into the postseason, where they wound up finishing third-worst in point-per-game averages (18.2) and dead last in offensive rating (39.6).

Hield could certainly help improve this second-unit drastically.

This past season, the fourth-year pro posted impressive averages of 19.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, and three assists per game on 39 percent shooting from deep.

Though starting in 44 games, it was the 28 in which he played coming off the pine that proved to be his most effective. Averaging 25.1 minutes in said contests the shooting guard put up 17.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game on 45 percent shooting from the floor and 45 percent shooting from deep.

If possible to be acquired at a reasonable price — such as the ones we’ve suggested here –, tabbing Hield as the team’s sixth-man could prove to be an absolute joy for the shamrocks.
