Boston Celtics Mock Draft: 3 replacements for outbound free agents
The Boston Celtics will have the resources to replace outbound free agents this offseason. Which replacements will be available in the NBA Draft?
Of all of the top contenders in the NBA that were eliminated in the Lake Buena Vista bubble down on the Wide World of Sports Complex in Walt Disney World, the Boston Celtics are the team with the best chance to immediately improve this offseason without having a major headache.
The Cs were a top-five team on both sides of the ball and had the fifth-best record in the league. Unlike contemporaries like the Milwaukee Bucks–who will likely have to make blockbuster trades this offseason to have any shot of keeping Giannis Antetokounmpo–and the Toronto Raptors, who may see an exodus of free agents this year and next due to their planned pursuit of Antetokounmpo themselves, Boston has easy access to improvement.
Like every other franchise, the Celtics have the mid-level exception at their disposal. Of course, by nature of their bloated payroll, theirs’ is of lesser value than most. The difference, though, is that Brad Stevens’ winning culture should attract the right kind of veteran.
Even without signing any new veterans, though, the Boston Celtics have three first-round draft picks that can help them rebuild their bench. Assuming minimal changes are made to the top of the rotation (and going a step further and saying the playoff starting lineup could go untouched), the draft choices will more than likely be used to replace outgoing Cs free agents looking for new homes.
Here are 3 Cs who can be replaced through the draft, and who can replace them:
