The Boston Celtics have several important pieces of business to tend to this offseason. Here are the obvious ones.
Danny Ainge has an interesting job. As the architect of the Boston Celtics–and a former legendary player for the franchise to boot–he is the man in the hot seat…but he has kept his seat because of his constant ability to adapt to the NBA climate around him.
As he is set to tackle this most unique 2020 offseason, there will be thorns in his side that will keep him up at night thinking of ways to bring the team closer to banner #18. After the Cs bowed out of the NBA postseason in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals to the Miami Heat, the focus immediately started on how the team can improve for next season.
While part of Ainge believes the roster could be in the NBA Finals, he also realizes there might be changes needed to move the needle forward in 2020-21:
"“We feel like we can beat Miami, but we didn’t. They beat us fair and square. They played better down the stretch of the games in that series. I have great respect for them and all that they’ve accomplished. We’re going to try to get better.”"
So, changes–and general housekeeping moves–are clearly needed this offseason to help improve the team’s likelihood of hosting a parade when it is once again socially acceptable to do so.
