Boston Celtics: 2 teams who could trade down for C’s picks

Team who could trade down with the Boston Celtics No. 1) Washington Wizards
The idea of the Washington Wizards being a prime candidate to trade with the Boston Celtics on draft day was sparked by an article we wrote earlier in the week discussing 3 players worth trading up for. In it, we brought up a prospect in James Weisman who, in an NBA Mock Draft from CBSSports.com, was seen dropping as low as the eighth overall pick.
While the New York Knicks are the ones who hold the rights to pick eight, they already have themselves a center in Mitchell Robinson, which means, should the Memphis big fall to this slot, he likely would be passed over and, in turn, fall to the Wizards at nine.
Now, one can certainly make the case that a player such a Weisman, or any of these other top-billed talents would be of great value to a Washington team that’s missed their second-straight postseason. That said, they are flush with holes on the roster that need filling and, with a healthy John Wall expected to join the league’s second-leading scorer in Bradley Beal in 2020-21, the team could be in-line for a return to success.
If they want to better position themselves for a potentially long playoff run, however, they’ll need to address many glaring issues within the rotation. Because of this, perhaps the fact that the shamrocks possess three first-rounders, it might behoove the Wiz’s front office to trade down in the draft to attain the opportunity of surrounding their two key cogs with cheap and young complimentary help.
