The Boston Celtics won’t be participating in the NBA Finals, but Cs fans should still monitor these 3 impending free agents in the Lakers-Heat series.

Now that the disappointment of the Boston Celtics’ season ending has settled in, there are important matters to discuss for this upcoming offseason. Mainly: what will get the Cs over the hump in the Eastern Conference?

This year it was the Miami Heat, but next year it could be any number of teams in the Eastern Conference that could send Boston out of the playoffs and back to square one. The Brooklyn Nets loom large as a potential challenge, but there could be major deals made by the Milwaukee Bucks, Toronto Raptors and Philadelphia 76ers that could vault them right back into that conversation.

The Cs seem like solid contenders, but the truth of the matter is other teams will be busy this offseason making sure they can contend in a loaded Eastern Conference. Boston needs to do the same.

And while it may seem like it’s time to rewind on the season that was, there are still as many as seven games left in this completely untraditional 2019-20 pandemic-shortened season. While Boston Celtics fans likely won’t love the sight of either the Los Angeles Lakers or Miami Heat raising the first banner of the decade, they may be able to appreciate the site of several players on both rosters.
