Swapping Theis and Kanter for elite shooting

The Boston Celtics could stand to send extra players away in any deal due to the incoming first round picks they possess, and this deal sends two centers away in a deal to acquire elite sharpshooting from the 3-point line–something sorely needed after the team clanked 3-pointer after 3-pointer in what was a frustratingly stagnant offensive output against the Miami zone defense.

J.J. Redick is the perfect hired gun to step into the game and provide value off the bench for a young Celtics team. They lack any sort of 3-point sniping off the bench as constructed, and adding a veteran presence like Redick could only help fellow Duke Blue Devil Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown grow more into leadership roles.

Everyone in the league can use shooting, but the New Orleans Pelicans have a very interesting offseason ahead of them. Derrick Favors and Jahlil Okafor are set to hit the free agent market, and neither are a lock to return. The Pels can replace both of them in this deal, which also nets them a young shooter in Carsen Edwards who can share the backcourt with Josh Hart in the second unit.
